Where is the local pick-up?
Local pick-up is available by appointment at the locations listed below. Times and availability may vary week-to-week as Chris run The Tack Trove outside of a regular full-time job.

How can I select Local-Pickup during checkout?

Shopify only allows us to show ONE address during checkout (this is for shipping purposes). We understand that Burnaby might not be the location you desire, and once we receive your order we will send you an e-mail within 48hrs to confirm your desired pick-up location and time.

Why are local pick ups and drop offs by appointment only?

Chris works a full time job alongside running The Tack Trove so I don't have regular times I'm always available between my "9-5". Horses, volunteering at events, and spending time with family is important, and I try to be flexible in offering multiple locations and being available around my busy life. I thank all of my customers for their understanding and work to fulfill your needs and expectations.

How soon can I pick up my order?

We will email you within 48 hours of placing your order to organise local pick up. Pickup within 24hrs or less is extremely unlikely.

Do you have a storefront?
No. The Tack Trove is an online consignment shop. We offer local pick-up by appointment or shipping in Canada/USA.

Why was my saddle rejected for consignment?
We only accept quality, used English saddles for consignment and having been in business for a few years we've come to better understand the market. Poorly constructed saddles, unpopular brands, unbranded, or faulty saddles will not be accepted for both safety reasons, and because we don't want your saddle gathering dust.

How do I trial a saddle?
Trials are available within Canada or the USA only with a full deposit payable by etransfer (Canada) or PayPal (USA). Email us at thetacktrove@gmail.com to request a trial.

We offer limited appointments (weekends only) to bring up to 5 saddles to your facility to try. Appointments for 1.5 hours are charged at a flat fee of $75 (only available in the lower mainland, BC). Payment is required on the day (cash) or paid in advance (etransfer).

Saddles that require shipping are at the buyer's expense and are non-refundable. USA buyers are responsible for paying any duties/taxes/brokerage fees incurred when the saddle crosses the border. PayPal transaction fees are calculated at approximately 2.9% + 30c and are non-refundable should the saddle be returned to us.

What is your consignment fee?
25% (75% goes to the consignor).

When do I get paid out for my sold consignment pieces?
Payouts are available 30 days after the item has sold. Consignors have access to their account (google sheet) through their email. If you'd like to see the status of your account or are having difficulty with viewing it, please email us at thetacktrove@gmail.com

Why is shipping so expensive?
We primarily use Canada Post or ShipNerd (CanPar, UPS) for shipping the majority of our orders. While we try to keep shipping rates as low as possible, we're not in control of shipping rates and The Tack Trove doesn't make any profit on shipping fees.

Can I view items or try things on before buying?
Viewings and try-ons are available by appointment in Burnaby, Langley, or PoCo only. Locations are not set up with change room facilities. Email us at thetacktrove@gmail.com to request an appointment.

Can I ship items to you for consignment?
Yes! We can even help get you a better deal on shipping items to us for consignment. Please email us at thetacktrove@gmail.com for information regarding shipping.

Do you ship to the USA?
Yes! We've recently added the ability for our American customers to shop in USD and calculate automatic shipping on checkout.

Do you take offers on items?

Short answer, no. We believe our pricing is fair for both our consignor and customers. If items don't sell at the given price and are nearing the end of time with us, we will move them to the Clearance section where you can save 25%+ off the original price. Saddles are the only exception, and we're happy to discuss reasonable offers on your behalf with our consignor.

What are the shipping speeds?

We aim to fulfill shipped orders in 1-3 business days via expedited parcel. Canada Post has projected shipping speeds of:
1-2 days (local)
1-4 days (regional)
2-8 days (national)
The Tack Trove does not take responsibility for projected shipping speeds which are out of our control. Shipping times may be impacted by holidays, intermittent weather, or other unforeseen delays.

My credit card isn't working!

We occasionally have customers who experience difficulties checking out through the standard payment experience. If your credit card is failing to process this could be due to the billing address not matching your credit card's address. If the address is correct please follow the steps below to process payment using PayPal (you do NOT need a PayPal account):

1.  At the bottom of the Checkout page select your payment option as PayPal (do NOT use the Express checkout option!)
2. Select Pay with PayPal
3. Select Pay with a credit or Visa Debit card.
4. You should see a window with "Check out as a guest" at the top. Provide your email address then click Continue.
5. Enter your card details, as well as your billing address. Ensure you click the blue slider to NOT save info and create an account (unless you want to create a PayPal account!)
6. Click Continue as Guest to complete transaction.
