Consignment Program Guidelines

Please note that as of April 23, 2024 The Tack Trove will no longer be accepting new consignment as we are closing our doors on May 31st, 2024.

Thank you for considering consigning your equestrian products with us. We offer competitive commission rates and a high standard of care and customer service.

We accept new and/or gently used quality English saddles, leather tack items, and equestrian brand name apparel/accessories for our consignment program.
To be considered for our consignment program, items must be clean, safe, have no major defects or broken parts, and be complete and usable.
We reserve the right to reject any item(s) that does not meet our criteria or does not appear to be of good quality.
You must also complete our consignment agreement.
We accept: We don't accept:
  • English saddles (less than 15 years old, unless in excellent condition).
  • English girths
  • Stirrups & irons
  • Saddle pads (show condition, high end only)
  • Show apparel (modern, technical jackets and shirts)
  • Tall riding boots (no pull-ons)
  • Paddock boots
  • Half chaps
  • Jackets, vests, etc. (winter apparel only accepted from September-February)
  • Complete English bridles, reins, fancy browbands
  • Halters
  • Horse boots & bandages
  • Spurs & whips
  • Lunge equipment
  • Training equipment (Pessoa system, surcingle, etc.)
  • Martingales & breastplates
  • Horse blankets (clean, waterproof if turnouts). Winter blankets only accepted from September-February due to limited storage capacity. Coolers and sheets (high end only!).
  • Elation/Greenhawk brand breeches
  • Damaged/dirty/retro items
  • Traditional, cotton show shirts with separate collars
  • Helmets (even if new)
  • XC vests, air vests (even if new)
  • Wool show jackets
  • Western or Australian tack
  • Non-tack (ie. jewelry, pictures, household items, bottled products, furniture, etc.)
  • Luggage/carrying bags (helmet, boot, saddle, etc.)
  • Non-equestrian branded apparel
  • Socks (unless new)
  • Tack boxes/lockers
  • Grooming tools (unless new)
  • Ingestibles (ie. supplements)
  • Books/DVDs
  • Stable supplies (ie. brooms, forks, buckets, etc.)
  • Non-horse stuff (ie. dog collars)
  • Keyhole memory foam, or gel half pads
  • Incomplete bridles, random leather pieces
  • Fleece polo wraps/bandages
  • Shipping boots
  • Show coolers with embroidery (those won at competitions)
  • Cotton/fleece/wool coolers unless higher end brands like Horseware Ireland or LeMieux

Cleaning service:
The cleaner your saddle is, the faster we can sell it and a good cleaning will often increase the value of your saddle. We offer cleaning service on leather saddles that includes a full deep cleaning and conditioning. Saddle cleaning is available for a fee of $35.

Dirty items (tack) may be subject to a cleaning fee if there is excessive dirt, hair, etc. and the items need to be cleaned prior to listing the item(s) online. A cleaning fee of $5 will be charged per item

Safety checks: Please note that The Tack Trove checks every item before accepting them into our consignment program. Saddles and tack are checked for broken/twisted trees, thinning or cracked billets, loose stitching, broken or missing hardware, and other possible defects that would make the item(s) unsafe. In the event that your item has a problem that can be fixed to make it usable again, we will call you to find out if you would like to have the item repaired at the Consignor’s expense. If the item cannot be repaired it will be returned to you (at your expense if shipped). You are welcome to call or email to receive a repair quote from one of our 3rd party tack repair specialists prior to sending your item in for consignment.

Consignment fees: Pricing is determined by The Tack Trove and may progressively be reduced until sold, or reduced during sale events.
